Sand in my toes

Hello blogging friends!!

Yesterday I had great time on the beach.
Lately when I've been cycling all over city and towns I always look for water. Whether it is lakes, seas or streams. There is something very soothing.

Sand in my toes... not so much on my sketchbook :)

Little doodling I did inspired by Inspiration avenue theme "Birds and flowers".
I added some floral stamps to this drawing also :) (click image to make it larger).

I have some brand new prints added to my Etsy-shop.

Today I woke up on a heavy rain.
My "Rain dance" illustration is quite fitting.

Here is "Dragon's visit". I painted this one for my illustration portfolio. It was originally inspired by one of master Tolkien's poems.

The dragon lay on the cherry trees
a-simmering and a-dreaming:
Green was he, and the blossom white,
and the yellow sun gleaming.
He came from the land of Finis-Terre,
where dragons live, and the moon shines
on high white fountains.
- J.R.R.Tolkien

I submit these to Paint party friday :)

Featured artist of May: Janna Prosvirina

"Topaz" by Janna Prosvirina

Hello blogging friends!
It's time for featured fantasy artist of may.

Janna Prosvirina

This time I'm featuring extremely talented artist friend Janna Prosvirina. I came across Janna's artworks in deviant art years ago and I adore her beautiful and whimsical painting style. Whenever I see her paintings art within them touches me. It can be joy, sadness or wonder.

Please introduce yourself. Who you are and what kind of artist you are?

My name is Janna Prosvirina. I am self-taught traditional artist based in Austria, Europe. Although, watercolor is absolutely my favorite medium, I enjoy using acrylic and colored pencils for some of my projects or mix different media.

How did you started your artistic career/hobby? What are your artistic dreams?

I have been creative since very young age. Unfortunately, my parents have never supported my hobbies and I never got any formal education at arts. I almost gave up painting in my early twenties while I was attending University but I got back to it after meeting a person who convinced me to start over again. My dream is to develop my talents and become as good as possible at what I enjoy doing most.

What are the things that inspire you to create? and do you have a message in your art?

Nature is the main source of inspiration for me. Nothing can inspire me more than a day spent somewhere in the woods or walking a mountain path. I am blessed by living close to it.
I think every piece of art has a message of it's own. Some of my pieces are more personal, they tell a story while others are "empty". I try not to speak much about it when I post my artwork online though. A viewer mostly sees in an artwork something else then an artist tried to imply. I am happy when my message was understood but I have no problem if it was not.

Any advises and tips for starting artists?

It might appear hard and frustrating at the beginning but never give up and keep on practicing. Feel inspired by other artists. I don't mean by this copying artworks of others. Search for elements you like and develop your own. Turn to other artists for advice most of them would gladly help you. Read as much tutorials as possible. Attend art lessons if you have a chance to do it. Use art reference (stock images) and join a supportive art community.

Cats cats and more cats

Hello blogging friends and all the readers!

Finally I got this larger painting finished.
Just in time for this week's inspiration avenue. This week's theme is "creativity and cats"
I also link to paint party friday.

This painting is titled" Le Chat Pourpre" (meaning purple cat.. french readers you can correct me if I write it wrong :)

Name of course comes from famous french "Le Chat Noir" cabaret - poster.

Original is listed on etsy.

Acrylics on canvas

I couldn't imagine my life without cats.

I have propably posted this one here before. It's my girl Pumpuli who passed away last year.

I've always thought this picture is quite funny. I call it "finnish design".

Here is our handsome Noki boy. 13 years old with one single gray hair.

This beauty is my friend's cat.

She is called Elena.

Siamese are very social (or at least this one is :)

Here are some nice cat quotes I've found :

"Time spent with cats is never wasted" - Sigmund Freud

"Cats are a mysterious kind of folk. There is more passing in their minds than we are aware of." - Sir Walter Scott

"As every cat owner knows nobody owns a cat" - Ellen Perry Berkeley

"I've met many thinkers and many cats, but the wisdom of cats is infinitely superior". - Hippolyte Taine

Thank you for visiting

Time for featured artist of the month next week so stay tuned

Painting Stones

Hello blogging friends!

Long time no see. I have a good reason for it. Unfortunately  my computer crashed in the end of april. Thank goddess I was able to save all my imagefiles (wooh).

I've found a new painting flatform... stones :) It's so much fun. Takes time and patient. I'm usually very fast with watercolors but painting on canvas with acrylics or on a small surface takes a long time for me.

Inspiration avenue this week challenge is to create "Eye glasses" art.

My little stone owl fits well :)

I have more my stone paintings coming. I finnish them all with vernish so it takes some time to dry.

I also managed to finnish painting for enchanted vision's theme "illumination"

Here is my mermaid with some illuminating water fairies:)

I'll submit these to paint party friday also and now Im off to visit your blogs!

Have a great coming week
