Hearts and Flowers

Good day fellow bloggers!

It's getting near Valentine's day. To be honest with you I don't really fancy it. I found it bit too commercial but on the other hand all holidays are quite commercial these days.

So Im trying to change my attitude and think positive aspects of all the holidays.

Valentine's Day for example is a good excuse to call friend you haven't seen in a long time, or write letters or send postcards. Make people close to you happy.

Inspiration Avenue - challenge this week is: FLOWERS AND HEARTS

Above you can see latest drawing in my artjournal.

I also wanted to paint an envelope :) So here is letter to someone very dear.
With hearts, roses, daisies and butterlfy.

It was such a blast to paint this one. It reminds me a bit of glass/tiffany work.

"Butterfly letter" can also be found as a
Digital stamp in my etsy-shop
Here:

It's an instant Download!

Perfect for making Valentine's Day cards

Crafting Tutorial: How to make envelopes

Hello blogging friends!

I tought it was about time to make a tutorial.

Having penpals is one of my dearest hobbies. I love writing and receiving letters. As a crafty person I of course make my own envelopes.

Here is very simple tutorial on how to make Basic envelopes with few simple items.

I hope you find it useful.

Here we go:

Step.1 materials

For this tutorial I've used:

siccors
Paper glue
ruler
pencils
A4 sized (8 x 10 in) paper
+
1 Basic postcard (size A6 = 10 x 14 cm)

Step 2.

Draw two  similar areas by following the lines of the postcard.

Step.3

Draw "wings" by using the ruler.

This is how it should look.

Step 5.

Cut the "extra area".

Step 6.

Bend all the edges inside to the outer part
and glue the sidewings together

Vóila ! You're envelope is done!

For the turorial I used Basic white printing paper but I suggest you to do some  paper recycling.

Above you can see envelope that I started to make from a front page of a finish camera magazine I found from  library left-overs.

With this instructions you can do many sizes just by using a different sized postcard and different sized paper.

These two above are also handmade. Other one is a cover of Disney-princess magazine I re-used and other one is done from broken poster of the lord of the rings- movie :)

To the backside you can glue white pieces of piper to write sender and receiver names.

I hope this was helpful for you

Please send me photos with your results Im happy to see them

Inspiration Avenue: Mice, mouses

Hello blogging friends around the globe!

This week inspiration avenue is all about mice and mouses. All those who know me knows Im a catperson so I haven't draw/painted many mouses during my artistic career.

(Jill Barklem: Brambley Hedge books)

First artist/Illustrator/storywriter what comes to my mind is Jill Barklem and Brambley Hedge books (tiheikön väen tarinat- in finish). I love all the details she puts to every single illustration.

They never end suprising me.

Inspired By Jill Barklem's mouses. I started a first page of my new artjournal (above).

My mouse is a traveller. I don't know yet where he is heading but if I shall find out and if he pops in to another painting also I'll let you know.

Media used: felt tipped pencils and watercolors.

Snowflake

Good Morning blogging friends!

Time for paint party friday again. I've seen tons of wintery paintings on artblogs lately so of course I had to post my latest winter fairy.

Around the world

Winter is back after rainy december! Hurrayy!!

"Colors of India"

Depressive weather made me think of summer and exotic places.

It was my turn to host inspration avenue challenge.

Theme this week is "Around the world"

It was inspired By Jules Verne's famous book "Around the world in eighty days" which is one of my favorite books of all time.

I've travelled quite a lot in Europe. Thanks from it goes to my mom who loves travelling. So I caught "travelbug" in very early age.

So far I've visited 25 countries in Europe.

I've never visited outside Europe but I hope to do that someday.
I want to visit India, Africa, Japan, Florida (Disneyworld yeiii!) and so many places.

I guess that's why I painted couple of Indian Tigers with indian patterns and colors.
There is something there that facinates me.

I did a little "around the world" extra challenge for myself. You can enter also if you want to:)

First I cut random words : animals, objects, food, countries (for example cat, siccors, Germany)

I mixed them up

Then picked three random words

and created little pieces of art.

Greece, Dog and Umbrella

This was funny.

Words were: Teddy Bear, Finland and Boots

of course it started to snow right after I had finished the painting. Go me!

Let me know if you want to play this "extra game" and I give some words for you too.

Happy Creating
Niina

Book of Winter Memories

Once again it's time for paint party friday. I finally finished work I started on november.

My darling little sister made me a christmas calender. She wrote me 24 christmas poems to open for every december day.

What's a better way to put them together than bind them into a book.

Here are some pages. I also used old holiday-cards.

Here is the back -cover

I also painted the last Tarot-card Fairy of 2013

"Two of Wands"

Element: fire fairy
Two of wands presents power to learn how to use firemagic of the wands. You are balanced with the world and yourself. Find your own path and your own adventures.
Model is my "witchy friend" Salla.
